Oscars Red Carpet Review

Ahh the Oscars! I have been looking forward all award season for the big one and was nto disappointed. I personally liked Seth McFarlane as the host.  He wasn't very crude and was very funny.  Here are some highlights from the red carpet:

I love this couple!!! Jennifer Garner & Ben Affleck...I really hope they go the distance. And I LOVE her dress.  The color is GORGEOUS!! Ruffles galore and it works, and fabulous necklace. Definitely my vote for Best Dressed.
Another cite couple, both seem to have the pregnancy glow lol...His dancing on stage and presenting was great too!
I don't know her very well but Zoe Saldana has great taste and I love that this dressis DIFFERENT and totally works.
Oh happy she won, she's great.  Disappointed in her dress.  Just underwhelming and the pointy breast part just weird.
Some people didn't like this dress on Jennifer Aniston but I do. She looks sweet and its different than her usual black dresses. Go girl!
Talk about being the belle of the ball. Such a pretty dress...felt so bad for her tripping up the stage but she held it together well and we will love her more for it.
Jessica Chastain wowed in this dress.  It sparkled so nicely. If she wasn't up against Jennifer Lawrence I would have totally been rooting for her to win.
Can we tell her to leave now?? I can't stand Kristen Stewart and her attitude. Felt like she didn't want to be there.  Her dress was beautiful but she doesn't deserve it. Her always greasy hair and makeup like she has been drinking for days. Worst presenter ever.
I love Sandra Bullock.  Always funny and true to herself. This dress is sexy but manages to be all covered up. LOVE

Recipe: Crockpot Pizza Soup

This is a great recipe to prepare the ingredients ahead of time and freeze until whichever day you want to throw in the crockpot.  Super yummy too!

  • 14 oz jar of pizza sauce
  • 3 empty jars of water
  • 1 yellow bell pepper (or green)
  • 1/2 red onion
  • 1 cup mushrooms
  • 1 can diced tomatoes
  • 2 cooked Italian sausage
  • 1 cup sliced pepperoni
  • fresh basil leaves
  • 1 tsp. oregano
  • 1/2 cup dried pasta
  • shredded cheese

  1. Wash and prepare vegetables. Add to large bowl.
  2. Cut up sausage and pepperoni into bite-sized pieces.  Add to bowl.
  3. Add basil, oregano, pizza sauce, and water.
  4. Divide into two large ziploc freezer bags.
  5. Label outside of bag and throw in freezer.
  6. On day you want to use, remove one bag from freezer and throw into crockpot.  Add one cup of water and cook on low for 8-9 hours.
  7. Before serving cook pasta and then throw into crockpot and let it get happy for few minutes. Garnish with shredded cheese.
  8. Enjoy! Makes at 6 servings.

2013 Grammy Award Reviews

Award season continues on with the Grammy Awards...the best of the best in music.  It was a fun show this year, although felt like there were barely any awards given.  Here are some highlights from me:

Adele...looking great after baby, and going with something other than black was nice, however I don't like the red floral overlay on this dress....too grandmother-ish

Carrie Underwood blew the house away...the dress was so cool especially when the butterflies flew away.

Fun. did a decent job and it was cool when it started did they not get electrocuted?!

Justin Timberlake....i was dying to see this, love the music, love his performance, love his hair and love love!

Dang...Katy Perry looks H-O-T!!

Cutest speech ever! Kelly Clarkson winning her award

Recipe: Corn Muffins

All the talk about Super Bowl parties and bowls of chili sure got us in the mood to make our own this weekend.  We are not football fans but love the aspect of people getting together to watch the game and the big feast of course.  I made my usual crock pot chili and decided to try my hand out as corn muffins (recipes found on which we devoured fresh from the oven!

  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 cup cornmeal
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1/4 cup canola oil
  • 1 cup milk
  1. Preheat oven to 400F and grease muffin pans.
  2. In large bowl combine flour, sugar, cornmeal, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Add egg, oil, and milk.  Sit gently until combined.
  4. Spoon batter into muffin pans.
  5. Bake for 20 minutes.
