Pear Mojito

Favorite mojito with a twist to date! You may have read my previous post of the watermelon mojito which was good but this was great. The pear surprised me by having a wonderful taste in this drink. Follow same directions as for watermelon mojito but substitute pear :)

Jack Daniels Chicken & Pepper Skewers

These were by far my favorite skewers we`ve made. Yes, I am a chicken lover so that helps. But the sauce on the chicken combined with the peppers...mmmmm!  We cubed about 5 chicken breasts and marinated them for a good two hours in this homemade Jack Daniels sauce using this recipe. Then we skewered the chicken alternating with peppers. Voila! Easy and delicious dinner :)

Don`t they look tasty?!

Girl`s Soccer Birthday Theme

It was my youngest niece`s 7th birthday and she requested (ok, demanded) a soccer theme with the colors green and purple for her bday party.  I had the idea of growing real grass (yes me who has no green thumb) in pots as centerpieces. And it WORKED!!! I may have obsessed watching over them for 2 weeks but it paid off. We made a little girl very happy. I used popsicle sticks to hold the little banner flag and the other one too. I printed everything on a regular color printer then glued it to felt. Here are some details:

Sausage & Beef Skewer Dinner

Oh bbq yet! We were determined anything were having for dinner had to be done on the grill. I would say we succeeded! Skewers with beef and double smoked farmers sausage, potato wedges (seasoned with italian seasoning, olive oil, and parmesan cheese, and yummy corn on the cob that were grilled right in the husks. Yup...this was life at its best.

Watermelon Mojito

We`re starting to experiment with new cocktails and twists on other favorites. This one was pretty good. The watermelon doesn`t leave a strong taste but yummy!

Watermelon Mojito

Cube a slice of watermelon and muddle it with a sprig or two of mint (don`t forget to spank it), add simple syrup, lime juice, and of course rum (2 oz or so....) Shake and pour into glass with ice. Garnish with another sprig of mint.

House Ready for Summer

This blog is a little late but better late than never! Towards the end of Spring we freshened up the exterior of the house with window cleaning, giving everything a good wash, and getting some green thumbs. Now Steve is absolutely amazing at getting our lawn to look so good. I leave it in good hands. Funny enough I work with flowers all the time for weddings but highly dislike touching dirt and planting flowers. This year I got a bit dirty though. We reused our existing planters from last year. Then I purchased two bouquets of petunias in a beautiful white and purple color. They even had some other colored flowers in there! Then I added the tall green leaves and for my own flair I added some dried willow branches I had leftover from a wedding at the beginning of June HA! I think they turned out great and total cost was under $30.00. Bring on summer!!
